Description

Since World War II, the percentage of clothing that is made from plastics (such as polyester and rayon) has increased dramatically. As of 2016, approximately two-thirds of the fiber used is some form of plastic. This chart shows the relative percentages: 65% synthetics, 21% cotton, 8% cellulose fibers, 1% wool, and 5% all other fibers. The chart is based on information from the trade group.
