This is the second Federal Art Project collaboration between the New Deal Museum and SUNY Geneseo. While many of the people have changed, there remains a shared sense that paintings and prints nearly a century old are powerful teachers and students help to make the artworks new. At the Genesee Valley Council for the Arts, we thank Board Chair John Chapman for his support and Director Morgan Helquist for her knowledge, fierce stewardship, photographic skills, and hands-on logistical assistance throughout a very short timeline. David Coon's ongoing care of the artworks themselves has been an important source of continuity. Once again, we gratefully acknowledge the many past GVCA staff and volunteers who have stewarded this collection of art and whose efforts led to creation of the New Deal Gallery. Although they never met, students today are indebted to the early research of Paula M. Henry (1949-2017).

At SUNY Geneseo, we're grateful for the support of the Departments of English, History, and American Studies. An early version of the exhibit was  presented at GREAT Day, the college's annual conference showcasing student research. It was organized by Rose Theel, Kenna Donalty, Ryan Seubert, Ava White, Emma Derrell, and Savannah Wyatt-Saylor. Publicity for the gallery show was undertaken by Ariana Harris, Savannah Wyatt-Saylor, Ava White, and Rose Theel.

A Painting's Work is Never Done was researched and created by OpenValley students during the Spring 2026 semester: Bella Alessi, Jasmine Buffone, Meaghan Casey, Victoria Coppola, Emma Derrell, Kenna Donalty, Nora Drexler, Gwenyth Harrington, Ariana Harris, Monica Hejaily, Timothy Hudson, Keira Killelea, Sophia Kitchens, Giavanna Lay, Paige Loucks, Molly Murty, Angelea Nicaj, Florence Pallotta, Isabella Papapietro, Olivia Pasiak, Lucas Pastwik, Dominic Rivera, Samuel Scamardo, Caleb Secor, Ryan Seubert, Ella Singer, Nadia Taylor, Ava White, and Savannah Wyatt-Saylor. The project assistant and course TA was Rose Theel. Co-coordinators were Alla Myzelev and Ken Cooper.
