Title
Stump Puller
Description
Caption to this diagram reads "Large Base Puller and Various Uses to Which a Stump Puller Can Be Put." The alphabetic labels show different types of arrangements, both recommended and not, for the removal of trees. By the time of this book's publication, the use of explosives to remove stumps was supplanting the mechanical means depicted here. Creating so-called "improved land" also had deforested much of the continent, and it's likely that knowledge used to create farmland was turning toward other uses like roadways or commercial projects. The book's author was a civil engineer whose expertise spanned various construction fields: mining, expenditures, project management.
