Gertrude Karlan Jewelry
Born in New York, from a young age Karlan’s artistic endeavors cut across different forms: music, painting, jewelry. At left, we see two brooches and a necklace displayed at a 1946 Museum of Modern Art show on "Modern Handmade Jewelry." Karlan's pieces are displayed at left, next to several by Madeleine Burrage. One of her paintings is held by the New Deal Gallery, Mt. Morris, NY.
