Title
Migrant Mexican Traditions
Description
This program accompanied a 1990 gallery exhibit centered on Mexican folk art traditions, as seen through seven individuals or families. Its curator explained that it was "divided into four major themes which illustrate central aspects of the workers' daily lives in Mexico, such as work, religion, decoration and recreation.
The media represented were quite broad and, for many Western New York visitors, unfamiliar. Besides leather working, wood working, and piƱatas, there also were home altars, rag dolls, and varying forms of papercraft: crowns, flowers, and banners.
