Description
Two images show "the world of tomorrow" at General Motors' famous exhibit for the 1939 World's Fair in New York City. Gleaming skyscrapers evoke the recently constructed Chrysler and Empire State Buildings. Its multi-laned highways, however, still were a proposed vision whose fruition came after World War II. These images appear in OpenValley in connection with the "Displacements" timeline created for the New Deal Gallery.
