A tree depicting the relationship between sequenced genomes (as of 2006). The center represents the last universal ancestor of all life on earth. Each color represents one of the three domains of life: pink represents eukaryota (animals, plants, and fungi); blue represents bacteria; and green represents archaea. "Homo sapiens" is two from the rightmost edge of the pink section.
