It seems to have taken its name from an association of donors, who went on to build out recreation facilities, dormitories, and dining halls. <br /><br />At its peak Camp Onanda hosted up to 150 visitors per session, gradually shifting from young working women to school-age campers and church groups. In 1989, faced with untenable costs of ownership the YWCA donated the facility to the town of Canadaigua. It's now a park.
